For Refresh or Sponsored Post – 14 Things to Do with Kids in Boerne

#1 Cascade Caverns- Cascade Caverns is a privately-owned cave that’s opened year-round. It’s a smaller run operation, so the cave tour feels pretty intimate. The steps can be quite a lot, but once you’re down there, your kids can get up-close views of bats and endangered salamanders. There’s also onsite gem mining, a huge T-Rex sculpture, and a gift shop.

#2 Cave without a Name- Cave without a Name is a bit larger and is a National Landmark. It has 6 major rooms but is probably an easier walk than Cascade Caverns. Other activities include cutting geodes and mining for gems. They also have concerts in the Cave Throne Room. You can see the schedule here.

#3 Random- The perfect place for the whole family! Drinks for mom and dad, food trucks for everyone, and a giant pillow Monster Bounce, lots of room to run around, corn hole and other yard games.

#4 Boerne Lake- Just minutes from downtown and right next to Random you’ll find Boerne City Lake. With no motor boats allowed, it’s a great calming environment to take your kids. There’s a rocky beach area that’s great for wading, along with a trail that goes around the lake, disc golf, kayak rentals, a playground, and more.

#5 Boerne Skate Park- Whether your kids know how to skateboard or not, the Boerne Skate Park will be tons of fun. Across from Curington Elementary, it’s great for skateboards but also scooters. There’s a small playground off to the side and an open field full of bluebonnets in the spring. There are also soccer fields off to the right of the skate area.

#6 Cibolo Nature Center- If you want to truly experience the outdoors, we recommend Cibolo Nature Center. There are trails to walk, easy access to the creek with lots of shallow areas shaded by huge trees, and various educational activities. There’s even a fort up a tall, winding stair case. Bring a picnic!

#7 Herf Farm Tours and Farmer’s Market- On Saturdays in March through October, take a tour of Herf Farm’s historical farm buildings.  While you’re there, pop over to the farmers market for fresh produce, treats, and kids activities.

#8 The AgriCultural- Open Saturdays, this museum features loads of antique tractors, glass blowing and blacksmith exhibitions, a pumpkin patch in the fall, and more. There’s a great sprawling tree for the kids to climb on too.

#9 Kinderpark- Probably the best park for kids in town. It’s gated and safe, with a great slide and lots of fun equipment. There’s plenty of shade thanks to the giant oaks and lots of room to run around.

#10 NinjaCity- NinjaCity is one of our favorite gyms in Boerne, TX. Not unlike the popular show, American Ninja Warrior, NinjaCity features all sorts of obstacles great for kids just looking for fun all the way to future competitors. The gym offers training and classes. Note, this isn’t a gym for toddlers, but older kids.

#11 Maker’s Place- Have crafty kids? If you head over to Maker’s Place, which is basically halfway down the Hill Country Mile, they can spend time painting on canvas or ceramic statues. It’s tons of fun and a great escape from the heat.

#12 Patrick Heath Public Library- This is one of the best libraries we’ve ever seen. It has a great children’s area, read-a-loud story times, kid programs, amphitheater for performances, and fun yard area to play in. Oh, and there’s a really cool bridge connecting to Old Number 9 trail out back. And don’t miss the secondhand bookstore.

#13 Dog and Pony- This family-friendly restaurant and bar was recently renovated creating an updated fun atmosphere. There’s a kid-friendly menu, a basketball court, and a nice playground. With tons of picnic tables and a beautiful patio, there’s plenty of room to spread out outside.

#14 River Road Park- On the trail next to Cibolo Creek on River Road, this park has tons of ducks running around and turtles in the water. But make sure to obey the signs and don’t feed the ducks bread. It’s bad for them. Make sure to walk down to the dam at the end of the park to peek over. And if your kids like to fish, this is an easy place to do so.

BONUS: Sugar Shack– Wow, we almost forgot this one! Right next to Soda Pops on Main Street, Sugar Shack is an old fashioned ice cream parlor with candy and all sorts of other goodies. But it’s not just a place to eat… venture deeper into the shop and find various table games along with a retro arcade. Don’t forget to bring your quarters!
